Our little bags are packed, our bikes are stuffed happily into huge boxes and we are ready to begin our slow journey home.
The sky is looking pretty sad and grey as we board the plane from Berlin to Pisa, and we know the sun is so close…
Off the plane, into a taxi and straight to the train station for an express train to Florence.
The streets of Florence are winding, narrow and full of locals and tourists, without feeling like a tourist-flooded town at all. We love it already.
We find our accommodation and our lovely host made sure we had our dinner booked at the best place in town for Bistecca Fiorentine, the famous Florence beef steak. Looking forward to dinner, we now have the chance to enjoy our first of many apperitivos.
We found the cutest littlest enoteca with only four seats out the front and plenty of cured meats and bites out the back. Prosseco and an amazing salumi finocciona sandwich joy.
It was still early as no one eats dinner before nine it seems, so we wander aimlessly through the streets until dark. Crazy little busses and Vespas all over make it seem a bit dangerous if you happen to be drunk, but everything seems to flow effortlessly.
So I guess we have time for another apperitivo. In some huge piazza we find another little enoteca full of amazing wines all over the wall and hanging meats. Super.
We find our dinner joint in this grand old building and the tone seems quite reserved amongst the other diners. Everyone seemed to be local and was there for one reason, the steaks. Serious beefy business.
We order a ‘piccolo’, one point one kilo steak on the bone and our first of so many Tuscan reds. So damn good.
We walk off the meal for a bit and dance around the streets feeling pretty happy to be where we are right now. Freya does some fashion poses and we call it a night…After some after dinner apperitivo of course. Back to the salumi man for more wine and cheese. Life is easy.

yay a blog of your lovely travels! I will follow avidly my loves!!!
